On January 25, 1985, even though Banco Filipino was performing well and was seen by most people as a very healthy bank, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas ordered its closure over alleged insolvency. For most of the 1980s, Banco Filipino would remain closed, until a 1991 ruling made by the Supreme Court declared the bank's closure illegal. Banco Filipino subsequently reopened, albeit only with fifteen of its original 92 branches, in 1994. -- dahil dito dinemanda ng BF ang BSP ng libel for false defamation. in which natalo ang BSP ang pinagbabayad ng P20 billion pesos.
dahil ayaw magbayad ng BSP, naglabas nanaman sila ng another defamation laban sa BF which triggered the mass withdrawal from its depositors. dahil sa biglaan at sabay sabay na withdrawal ng mga depositors, talagang hindi agad maibibigay ang pera nila. ginagamit din ng bank ang pera to invest in real properties.
"Banco Filipino was Closed by the Banco Sentral ng Pilipinas by claiming that Banco Filipino has exceeded its assets with more liabilities which is against Philippine law which states that a bank's assets must equal ore be in excess of its liabilities with an 8.4 billion pesos worth of liabilities. However Banco Filipino claims that it had 31.4 billion worth of properties and 23.8 Billion pesos worth of liabilities leaving the savings and mortgage bank with 1.6 billion pesos worth of positive assets showing that its assets according to Banco Filipino are more than its liabilities which could have been used in its planned rehabilitation."
and with this order from the COURT OF APPEALS, only proves na baseless ang accusations ng BSP. kawawa ang mga employees ng banco filipino dahil sa ginawang panggigipit ng BSP.
