Behind the word SUCCESS

Michael C. Asuten

Success does not come as often as when a person desires to. Like a human being, it also waits. When a person realizes the value of pain or suffering, success’ task is to smile naturally and display the bright array of its wings. When a person retreats, success only frowns all day or it may even pursue a person with its tight-clanging teeth. When a person persists or perseveres, success delightfully serenades him with melodious chants or indulges the day with full-blown episodes of burning romance.

Success rewards the bold and the daring but punishes the coward and the weakling. It endures when hope enkindles a man’s heart and wisdom touches a man’s mind. Success does not recognize the word “surrender” in its dictionary because when it does, it only dies with a natural death, and so failure eventually rises from the graves.

Success is not as easy as listening to music, watching a funny movie or smelling the fragrance of perfumes or flowers. Success is a dripping sweat over a man’s exhausting labor. It demands possession of a lion’s heart to conquer one’s fear and anxiety. It exacts pain for its narrow path belongs to the person who works hard and toils much. To climb the tree of success may be a long journey but once a person reaches the top and gathers fruits, he has nothing to say but a promise to himself that, “I will keep on climbing the tree of success and gather sweet fruits from it.”
